I’m going to miss my TSA searches.  When I first got my HAI pump, I was told it should not set off metal detectors.  Unfortunately, I got the beep each time I went through the airport.  While most of the gates I used had the image scanner that you can opt into, there are still some that did not.  There are some TSA agents that enjoy a good pat down and waste no time putting the gloves on when they hear the beep.  

This all changed with my liver transplant.  The HAI pump does make the transplant a little more complicated and it is removed during surgery.  It takes a little bit to get used to it not being there, but after a week I stopped missing it.  I wish I could have kept it, but I did not push the doctors too hard on the issue.  I have been through three airports over the last few weeks and zero issues in the metal detectors.
